Heuchemer Verpackung, a manufacturer and supplier of branded goods, employs 350 people and has its base in Miehlen, western Germany. It produces packaging from corrugated and solid board, plastic and wood. With its investment in Durst Water Technology, Heuchemer Verpackung has taken its first steps into digital processing of corrugated card. It’s a new era for the company celebrating its 100-year anniversary in 2020.

A company with technological innovation at its heart, the young owners of family-owned Heuchemer Verpackung are constantly being asked to provide new answers to the future challenges for its day-to-day business. One recurring requirement is for lower-volume orders and faster turnaround times, as well as full compliance for sensitive markets such as food retailing. Others include demands for high flexibility, new design possibilities and ways of coping with seasonal order variations.

In its core business as a premium manufacturer of branded goods, Heuchemer Verpackung places high demands on the quality of its packaging, but with conventional processes the company had been tied to high-volume printing runs.

Heuchemer Digital, a new division, was opened in 2019 to provide a unique opportunity to take a first step into the digital world and a complete digital workflow for corrugated board packaging production. The investment included the Delta WT 250 6c production machine with dual track corrugated printing option, Durst workflow and water-based inks, as well as an industrial feeder, registration table and stacker.

The new technological possibilities of digital inkjet printing in direct corrugated board printing have created new market opportunities for innovative producers of packaging and displays such as Heuchemer. Using Durst Water Technology, Heuchemer Verpackung can now offer its customers digitally printed, environmentally friendly and odourless packaging as well as POP & POS displays for sensitive areas such as food retailing.

  • NEW SR350– the new GM high-speed slitter-rewinder with the inspection. It features the newest in servo motion technology and a unique option for auto-set knives. The SR350 is equipped with the advanced Nikka M1 label inspection system option. The machine accelerates in the seconds and stops precisely within 10cm if any error is detected.   • DC330Modular finishing line, which will be demonstrated in-line with a high speed inkjet label press.

SmartShop solution from Durst enables DCP to reach new target audiences

For over 20 years, the innovative company DCP, based in Gütersloh, Germany, has been supplying graphics and large format digital prints to the event and trade fair industry. Oliver Knaup, Managing Director of DCP, had long been considering setting up a web shop to expand the business and reach new target audiences.

“Durst knows our business very well and was of course known to us as a manufacturer of printers. As the web shop idea took shape, Durst was our first port of call. ‘Web to Production’ means much more than just implementing software and building a shop. Our customers expect high-quality bespoke products, the print data must be prepared correctly and the finish determined right from the start. With their wealth of experience, Durst helped us to set up our online shop at www.megafabric.de, and we knew exactly that we would be technically up to date with Durst’s design templates. We were able to go live with the shop in less than four weeks!”

Since autumn 2018, thanks to Durst’s SmartShop solution, DCP has been offering high-quality photo and design products such as custom seating cubes, photo rugs, towels and other accessories for the home, offices, trade fairs and events. Customers can also order printed textiles, such as canvas, velour and cotton, for pillowcases, curtains and tablecloths. Designs are easy to create using the configurator. There are 12,000 examples of Pattern Design and images from the ADOBE Stock Collection available in the shop. Text and images can be added to the designs. It is also possible to create complete designs on the computer at home and upload the file via the configurator.

“This enables us to reach important new target audiences such as architects, home planners and interior designers who are very involved with the event and trade fair industry,” explains Oliver Knaup. “The user friendliness of the flexible software has already been praised by many customers and means we can offer a large design portfolio. Customers are particularly enthusiastic about the online design tool smartEDITOR. This makes it easy to design custom products, which can then be viewed as a 3D preview. This gives customers a much better idea of what the end product will look like. You can even superimpose your own photos into digital drafts! It’s a simple tool, but very effective.”

“We’re still in the early stages,” says Oliver Knaup. “But order volumes are growing steadily thanks to our extensive advertising campaign. ΝΕΟ ΜΟΝΤΕΛΟ FLEXO CTP ΑΠΟ ΤΗΝ AMSKY: AURA 1524

Το πιο πρόσφατο μηχάνημα CTP της AMSKY για εφαρμογές flexo για την παραγωγή ετικετών και συσκευασιών θα παρουσιαστεί στο περίπτερο της TWS – Αίθουσα 8, Περίπτερο C16.

Amsky manufacturer of CTP devices will introduce the latest CTP model with plate size 900 x 1200 mm

AMSKY’s latest CTP device for flexo application for labels and packaging production will be showcased at TWS stand – Hall 8, C16

TWS is distributor in Italy for AMSKY, manufacturer of CTP devices for flexo application for labels and packaging production. They will introduce the latest CTP model based on a plate size 900 x 1200 mm with superior imaging quality, AMSKY AURA 1524.
